The competition winning scheme for Great Bow Yard is the first speculative green housing development in South West and has been commissioned by developers South West Eco Homes as a prototype for local sustainable housing.

The design comprises twelve homes within two terraces, North and East Wing, arranged around a new ecological garden. The orientation of the terraces responds to the sun, views of the adjacent river and the inherent constraints of the site. Grouping into terraces leaves as much space as possible for gardens and communal spaces, and terraces are efficient thermally and in the use of materials.

The development is predominantly a pedestrian environment. Bollards replace kerbs where possible and parking is concealed at the back of the site or within timber screened undercroft garages.
