Aims
To ensure students achieve the broadest experience possible whilst at Stride Treglown in order to ultimately pass their Part Three.
We support the aim of the RIBA's Professional Experience and Development Record (PEDR) scheme:
"to assist student architects at the new Stage One and Stage Two to see their professional training as a series of learning experiences with specific outcomes that they can set themselves within the framework set out in the PEDR."
This support programme forms part of Stride Treglown's commitment to investing in people throughout their careers, and goes further than the RIBA requirements.

Focus
The Programme focuses on three main elements:
Breadth of Experience:
In order to gain a good level of exposure to the wealth of jobs and experienced personnel within Stride Treglown, we give thought to whether Part One students could rotate around different teams within the office. Part Two and Part Three students can expect to be working on a project that will give them appropriate in depth experience with the opportunity to work across a range of procurement routes. Where this is not possible, other relevant projects are identified between the mentor/project architect/individual and a programme of shadowing other projects organised.
Understanding Mentors:
Each student is allocated a dedicated, recently qualified architect or 'Mentor' to monitor their experience and help them gain the most from it.
Achievement of Personal Goals:
Reviews - Students will have three monthly training reviews (to coincide with PEDR submissions). The programme Coordinators work with the Human Resource Manager to oversee the programme and act as a link with the Team Leaders and Directors. They are also responsible for arranging supporting events.
Support - In addition to the 3 month review and mentor training process, there is a structured yearly programme of appropriate CPDs and site visits. Throughout this time help and support was readily available when required. This was particularly important during the writing of my case study and revision for my final exam. Strides has a wealth of knowledge over many disciplines which is a marked advantage over other students from purely architectural practices.
Part three students are given a contribution of £1000 towards the costs of fees, as well study leave to attend exams and any further training days necessary.
