Stride Treglown have recently worked on an interesting scheme with Kier Western for GKN Aerospace.
We were the lead consultant on this new facility which houses composite wing making and assembly for leading and trailing edge wing components for the new Airbus A350XWB.
The facility is within two existing high bay distribution warehouses which were converted, building 5020, the larger of the two will be used for the manufacture of the above mentioned components which has a class 8 clean room environment where the carbon fibre is layed up on to pre formed spars/tooling before being cooked in giant ovens in the adjacent space. Other machinery has been installed such as 5 axis routers and giant spray booths to assist in the production process.
