Gordon Tero, director Stride Treglown architects Manchester, appears in a Design Review - Architecure Q&A article in May 2011 North West Business Insider magazine:
A: I think this has been due to a combination of a spread of sector work and a willingness to work in close collaboration with our clients to develop projects with them that meet the design aspirations and are able to be delivered through difficult times.
As a practice we have a strong spread of skills across the construction sectors, it is something we have actively worked at to try and help ride the unknown lumps and bumps of a cyclical industry. It also means that we can bring varied skills into our projects and give our clients that ‘little bit more’ than just the core knowledge of that project type.
Our practice ethos has always been to work in close collaboration with our clients, gaining an understanding of the core requirements of any scheme, and working closely to ensure the best possible design is developed. To us this is about relationship building and working to understand what can be developed within the constraints of the projects circumstances, be they political, budgetary or simple site constraints.....we are here to ask some of the difficult questions, but also to work to provide the answers......answers that are deliverable, and that the whole team can be proud of.
I would like to think that the relationships we have developed over the last few years will grow and blossom over the coming years as we move from the current shadows into brighter times. The understandings and common goals we have with our clients and other consultants will strengthen as the North West leads the way into a brighter future.
