Now in their fourth year, the BCSE Best of British Schools Awards showcase outstanding school design throughout the UK.
Stride Treglown architects have been shortlisted for The Regis School, Bognor Regis within the ‘Excellence in Design for Teaching & Learning (Secondary)’ and ‘Sports Award – Excellence in the Provision of Sports Facilities’ categories.
This new 1800 place One School Pathfinder project under the DfES's Building Schools for the Future initiative for West Sussex County Council included the existing Bognor Regis Community College, a specialist Sports College dating from the 1930s. It covered a split site which was identified as a major hindrance to improving educational performance. The existing buildings would have needed substantial updating and extension to allow the school to effectively deliver the curriculum. The new campus development offers the opportunity to replace existing Infants and Junior schools within a new masterplan, providing vibrant and flexible learning facilities which highlights a commitment to the regeneration of Bognor Regis and the aspirations of the young people who live there.
