Stride Treglown's Landscape Architecture team have been successful in securing work to design a new public park in Longbridge Birmingham.
The £1.3M park project with Kier Partnership Homes forms an exciting and vibrant redevelopment of Egghill, providing open green space, areas for play, ecology and food growing as well as incorporating public art for the local community.
The design utilises the existing topography, maximising useable space, natural drainage and views to the prominent landmark of Hollymoor Hospital Water tower.
A large lawn terraced provides space for informal play, with steeper levels being utilised for slides and climbing activities in addition to more formal sports facilities. The design includes a "Trim trail" around the periphery of the park, Public Art to the North and a Wetland area to the south providing a sustainable approach to water management as well as a valuable habitat and educational resource. This area will be accessible via a large timber deck / boardwalk crossing.
Communal gardens and allotments for use by local residents / community groups are integral to the design and the "Frankley Grove" will provide a significant landscape feature for the community.
