Stride Treglown has made its first grant from its Golden Jubilee Fund, held with the Quartet Community Foundation. A grant of‚ £2000 has been made to St Paul's Advice Centre Association to go towards the repair of the roof of its premises at Albert Villas.
The centre has been offering general and specialist advice to the communities of St Paul's and Easton since 1972. If the roof is not repaired the building will become unsafe to use so preventing the centre from delivering its much needed services.
To commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2003, architects practice Stride Treglown set up the Stride Treglown Golden Jubilee Fund to support local communities in the West of England. Stride Treglown donated‚ £10,000 over two years, which was boosted with an extra‚ £5,000 from an un-named local benefactor as part of the Acorn Challenge. The fund has now reached named fund status, giving Stride Treglown the option of deciding which causes to support. The company has decided to direct funds towards environmental or arts projects with a preference for enhancing the built environment for the benefit of the public.
The fund capital is invested and income arising from the investment will be distributed annually as grants. In addition, further contributions will be made to the fund through Stride Treglown's fundraising efforts.
"It's important that business supports the local community and I have been impressed with our staff's dedication and imagination in raising money for the fund. Everyone has been eager to give their time to the cause whether it has been committing to running marathons or posing for a company calendar. Our clients have also supported the fund by making donations at Stride Treglown hosted events." Comments Kevin Steer, chairman of Stride Treglown.
