When a team from Stride Treglown Architects in Plymouth tried to enter a five aside football league they were surprised to be rejected due to one member of the team being female. Not deterred they approached Goals in Plymouth and were welcomed into the division.
Director Kevin McDonald agreed to sponsor his team of players and the company graphic design division, RedandOrange, designed the company kit. Sheridan Lewis, the footballing female of Stride Treglown was the real motivator in getting the team together and out on the pitch to practise. Sheridan has played football since she was 7, and is keen to show other businesses just how good her team will be.
Sheridan Lewis comments "Mixed football teams are interesting as they tend to be mainly men, who are either very uncomfortable about tackling a woman, or they do it to prove a point. I might be only eight stone, but I've surprised a few people who have been on the receiving end of my tackle! After that they tend to treat me like any other player."
The matches are every Monday evening, 6-8pm at Goals in Plymouth. And it's all for the I'd Rather Win This Than Tea & Biscuits MIXED Divisional Championship.
