Completion Of Contemporary Office Space Which Complements Local Architecture

With the completion of a new 45,000 sqft headquarters building in Cirencester, architects Stride Treglown have shown that it is possible to deliver a modern architectural statement within the constraints of an historic Roman town.

Stride Treglown was commissioned by developer Citygrove to refine the approved planning drawings for an office building and associated car parking space and develop the scheme through to practical completion.

Stride Treglown developed a design that remained in keeping with the local architecture and adjacent conservation area as well as providing the client with a more elegant contemporary scheme.

Distinctive Feel

To rationalise the approved scheme and bring a more distinctive feel to the building, Stride Treglown produced a series of minor revisions, focusing on: enhancing the visual separation of the two wings of the original design; adding interest to the connecting glazed Street; simplifying the architectural forms and creating a more classical entrance through a formal tree lined avenue.

A high quality, restrained palette of materials has been used, including traditional ashlar limestone (selected to complement the building's historic setting) and simple honed black granite.

Citygrove pre-let the building to St. James's Place Wealth Management who then appointed Stride Treglown to provide interior design services for the internal fit out.

Welcoming Atmosphere

St. James's Place Wealth Management was determined that their headquarters should not feel like a corporate office but instead reflect their personality through timeless and sophisticated design that would appeal to both long standing and new clients. To create a welcoming atmosphere for the reception a warm palette of materials was chosen to reflect those used for the exterior: stone, timber and glass with leather furniture and a real flame fireplace framed by the honed granite entrance and limestone reception feature.
