Stride Treglown has won planning approval for a mixed use scheme in Bristol city centre for developer Urbina. The development at 33 Wine Street will provide over 1600 sqm of retail space along with 8000 sqm of speculative office accommodation.
The scheme brings together three underutilised buildings and a service yard to create a high density development which is sympathetic to the existing urban grain through its form and use of materials. The strong focus on sustainability has resulted in a BREEAM excellent pre-assessment rating.
The design recognises the building's importance as a gateway to the adjacent shopping district. The dynamic flush facade with black stone panels and tinted glazing will repeatedly change its appearance as the contrast between the two is dependent on internal and external lighting conditions. Reconstituted Bath stone panels, in both a rusticated and smooth finish will be used to give rhythm and order to the building.
