Jemma describes herself as an abstract landscape painter'; her work concerns the landscape and the evocative nature of the world we live in. Her aim is to enchant and absorb the viewer with the atmosphere of the landscape, as if they were caught up in the tumultuous clouds of a storm. Her work is painted in oils on square format canvases, which have been used to accentuate the horizon line which is central to her work.
Jemma graduated from Bath Spa University and exhibits at venues around Bristol including Spike Island and her own space at Jamaica Street Studios.
Guy's sculptures are inspired by landscape, seascape and still life. They are a deeply felt expression of the poetry and mood of landscape, a choreography of form and relationship between parts, often trying to make tangible the unseen. Through a process of cutting, bending and forging then adding and subtracting parts he arrives at a composition that is both fresh and harmonious. The waxes for the bronzes are made using a similar approach incorporating organic found objects and are burnt out directly with the wax.
Guy's work has been exhibited at the Royal British Society of Sculptors in London and the Royal West of England Academy.
Held in Stride Treglown's offices in Clifton, one room was also dedicated to works by staff.
