RESI 2011 Post Conference Blog

Last week was certainly one to remember. We exhibited for the first time at RESI, the annual conference organised by Property Week. It took place at the Celtic Manor, an impressive hotel and conference venue in Newport which is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the M4.

The conference certainly attracted a diverse range of delegates, with over 900 in total who heard from key speakers such as Rt Hon Eric Pickles, James Caan (from Dragons Den) and Ben Kay (ex World Cup winning England rugby player). His motivational talk on Friday certainly perked everyone up especially as he told a number of stories about his ex team members, some of which I can't mention now!

RESI 11 gave us an opportunity to discuss opportunities in residential development throughout the UK, how the recession has impacted on the sector, trends and concerns whilst networking with developers, contractors, consultants and agents. There were some heated and interesting debates but the atmosphere seemed upbeat with resi schemes in parts of the UK still going from strength to strength.

Our stand also proved popular although the chocolates from Hotel Chocolat may have had something to do with that! So we are looking forward to RESI 12 and working with developers and others in the meantime.
