Stride Treglown is experienced in the design of aircraft facilities and has successfully delivered projects to accommodate a wide range of aircraft and machinery. We design buildings that satisfy a range of specialist requirements and meet the stringent planning conditions of existing military sites. Our design approach provides highly functional and innovative solutions to optimise use of space.

TW6 Storage Facilities

This new building will store a wide variety of equipment, furniture, clothing and materials over two levels of warehousing. There are also receipt and despatch facilities with vehicle docking and workshops at ground floor level and offices and staff accommodation at first floor.

In general appearance, the building is in keeping with the general strategy developed for all technical buildings grouped on the north side of the airfield, with brickwork to 2.1m, flat cladding panels above and a pitched standing seam roof.

TW123 Aircraft Facilities

This new new hangar, workshops and offices building was developed to accommodate and maintain aircraft. It is now the major structure at the airfield and replaces 70 year old buildings. It consists of a row of five individual hangars that are large enough to house the expected next generation of aircraft, together with associated specialist workshops, stores and offices in a block approximately 200m long and 14m high.

To satisfy planning conditions, it was important to minimise the overall height of the building and this was aided by the use of innovative folding fabric aircraft doors which also minimise the load on the structure and space occupied when open.
