Stride Treglown has designed a wide range of catering and mess facilities for the MOD. Two key projects delivered by our team include a new social centre and Sergeant's mess.

New Junior Ranks Social Centre

The new building provides the focal point for junior ranks. The dining room and bar face onto a green open space or inner courtyard. Other fully fitted out facilities include a shop, hairdressers, commercial kitchen, offices and staff facilities.

Sergeant's Mess

This new mess includes kitchen, servery, stores, Mess Manager's office, timber paneled dining room, ante room, lounge, bar, billiard room, reception area, sanitary accommodation and lockers. A separate two storey accommodation block contains 32 senior rank bedrooms with en-suite showers and toilets plus laundry, utility room and baggage storage. The buildings are of traditional construction with brick facing, patent glazing and pitched roofs set in extensive landscaped grounds.

Accommodation and Amenity Block

The amenity block with kitchen, dining and communal facilities serves three stories of living accommodation for 65 people. The building is set on two levels to take advantage of the falls across the site. The base is of brickwork with upper storeys clad in external insulation and thin coat render. The structure features pre-fabricated concrete sheer walls for speed of erection. Other innovations include sedum roofs, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, sun tubes and natural ventilation by wind catchers. Located close to the site boundary the building achieves an enhanced standard of security.
