Stride Treglown has designed a range of training, briefing and leisure facilities for the MOD which includes;
This project provides training facilities for the operation and maintenance of the Terrier armored excavator. The building complex includes four simulator rooms with state of the art computer controlled training screens, instructor's stations, classrooms, administration offices, two fully equipped workshops and garages.
This two storey specialist training facility includes lecture theatres, seminar and training rooms and offices.
The theatre is required as a high level briefing facility for NATO forces. In addition to the raked lecture theatre the centre includes a training area which can be sub divided by moveable screens into three sound proof rooms.
The building is designed to provide accommodation similar to that found on merchant shipping for use by the BST School. Military personnel train how to board suspect vessels and find illegal equipment which may be hidden throughout the ship.
The development includes a new quay, refueling station, boat repair workshops, classrooms, lecture room and pontoon. Set in an area of Special Scientific Interest, Outstanding Natural Beauty and in a Conservation Area, the existing facility remained fully operational during the redevelopment.
The boat shed provides servicing and maintenance for ocean going sailing vessels, quartermaster's stores, sail repair and life saving equipment rooms, classrooms and crew rooms. Built in an historic dock yard the planning conditions required archeological studies and records to be kept.
A P& RTC which is nearing completion, will provide sports, training and rehabilitation facilities within a two storey 2,400sqm building on a brownfield site.
Sustainability has been a key driver for the design and it is expected to achieve a DREAM 'Excellent' rating. Key features include natural ventilation and lighting, passive solar shading, rainwater harvesting, solar water heating and a highly insulated building envelope.
The Stride Treglown team also delivered a highly commended P & RTC which was part of a general review of recreational facilities. The double sports hall, gym and army training facility greatly enhanced the quality of facilities available for training and recreation.
