As part of a Nationwide Partnering Framework appointment with VOSA for works to Heavy Good Vehicle Test Stations, procured using the JCT CE Partnering Contract, VOSA commissioned Stride Treglown to design this stand alone office as an exemplar sustainable building.
Stride Treglown were tasked with maintaining a comfortable working environment without air conditioning. It has non-occupied spaces placed on the south side with small window openings to buffer the occupied office spaces, which are placed on the north side to avoid solar gain and have large windows to maximise natural daylighting.
The building incorporates high thermal mass and natural stack ventilation, with BRE 'A' Rated materials used wherever possible, including high levels of thermal insulation and cedar cladding. Rainwater harvesting has been incorporated, with solar photovoltaic cells mounted on an adjacent industrial building to provide electricity for the offices. The building was awarded a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.
The 2008 Constructing Excellence Integration and Collaborative Working Award was awarded to Stride Treglown as part of the VOSA Partnering Team.
