Stride Treglown's role involved the master planning and scheme design for the redevelopment of the existing station complex in three stages. From an original brief to provide safe level access for disabled passengers and 'enhance' the existing building, a scheme was developed for a new building and bridge.

The new station has been designed to Railtrack's highest disabled standards which relate to the design and gradient of stairs, visual contrast between handrails and walls, trip hazards, lift design - all of which are more onerous than the standard building regulations.
