The Government funded £5m project aims to deliver a world class 36,000sqft freehold facility for all young people in Bristol, accessible by public transport in a safe location. It will be open at times when young people need it, especially weekends and evenings.
Located within a Grade 2 listed, former firestation, Stride Treglown has designed a building that contains a café with a kitchen run by young people, a performance area with seating for 450 people, an internet café, music and radio studios, dance studios as well as counselling rooms.
Numerous workshops and an inspirational tour were organised for the 'young client group' to ensure our designs reflect exactly what they want from the building. Stride Treglown has also worked closley with the Sorrell Foundation as part of their 'Joined Up Design for MyPlace' programme.
The building is scheduled to open in the late summer of 2012.
