The Faraday lecture building is set to undergo a £2.75m transformation. The 11 month project will start in January 2012 and will then continue over the Easter and summer holidays to ensure the least disruption to teaching.

The building is over 40 years old and while the rest of the campus has seen new modern development, Faraday has been left in the 1970s with its tired and monotonous look.

The existing façade around the entire building will be replaced with a contemporary, coloured glass curtain wall and cladding system, adding some much needed vibrancy to the main campus thoroughfare.

In addition to enhancing the physical appearance of the building, the project is set to extend the useful life of the facility while dramatically improving the environmental performance, potentially reducing carbon emissions by up to 22% with the façade improvements alone. In addition the building will also benefit from improved visual, thermal and acoustic properties. A remodeled main entrance will improve access whilst adding additional floor space to the second floor.

Overall the team is confident the project will achieve its goals in improving the environmental performance of the building and enhancing the student experience at Singleton Campus.
