Intercity House was a drab 1980’s office building with an indistinct entrance and poor reception. Stride Treglown were challenged to improve the visibility of the entrance and upgrade the reception. Our solution was to insert a new five-storey glazed atrium on the prominent corner of the building, providing a new and contemporary focus to the exterior. A restricted palette of durable materials are incorporated including colour coated steelwork structures to the atrium and canopy, doors and doorframes with brushed stainless steel fixings. The panels to either side of the revised entrances have been designed to both complement the existing building and enhance the legibility of the entrances.
Stride Treglown’s Interior Design team worked with our architects to develop the design for the reception and toilet refurbishment. Our solution features a band of pre-patinated copper that runs down the internal atrium wall, wrapping round to the ceiling of the existing reception area and finally down towards the reception desk.
A green slate floor complements the tones of the other natural materials and provides a durable and attractive grounding to the scheme.
