This client wanted to completely change the look and feel of this uninspiring 80s commercial building within the Queen Street conservation area. The frontage was heavy and darkened the retail outlets, so we proposed recladding the pre-cast concrete frontage in vibrant copper panels, and replacing the existing concrete bulkhead with a light glazed canopy. We also replaced the first floor glazing and upgraded the external lighting. The programme required us to design the project to allow the contractor to keep the retail outlets trading through the 2010 Christmas period.
