The Stride Treglown Retail team were tasked with creating a more inviting environment for Barclays customers, giving the building an open, light and transparent appearance, ensuring an efficient service for their customers. Barclays also wanted to provide modern banking facilities, improve working conditions for their employees and a project which demonstrated their new approach to retail banking.
The brief from Barclays was to utilise both Ground and First Floors for customer services with the counter and self service transactions restricted to Ground and the personal quieter interview facilities located at First Floor in a softer specialist lounge environment. Back office functions are located directly off the customer areas. Staff facilities and back meeting room facilities are located on the Second Floor.
The project required the complete refurbishment of all floors which included the installation of a new customer lift and stone accommodation staircase, the installation of a new planar glazed shopfront to both elevations incorporating curved glazed automatic doors to the corner of Armada Way and Cornwall St. External ATMs have been located adjacent the secondary DDA entrance to ensure accessibility for all.
