This redevelopment involves the replacement of the central school building destroyed by fire. The 5300sqm redevelopment is the first part of a masterplan conceived by Stride Treglown and includes a three-storey structure to house new design technology, art, science, music, and IT centres.

In addition, a new library, administration, dining and special teaching facilities are focused within the new building. The form is planned around three main blocks which clearly define the boundaries of the school functions, all of which are linked by a top lit central street serving all levels. Breaking the plan into three forms has allowed a varied use of material including steel cladding, masonary rainscreen, brickwork and through coloured render.

The scheme has been developed in full consultation with school staff and governors.
