This presented a significant challenge due to its small size and the 10m change in level across the site. It is these site features that have driven the design.

The school will provide a state of the art learning environment for primary pupils together with dedicated Early Years, reception class and community facilities on up to three floors.

Set into the site topography, the new building works with the site's natural features to create a series of play space plateaus that respect the existing mature trees and landscape as far as possible.

Classrooms have commanding views towards to the coast and will be lively and engaging places for teaching and learning.

A dedicated drop off lay-by is proposed, together with a new bus bay within the site. The site layout sets out secure routes, with sheltered external waiting areas, within easy reach of the drop off points for parents seeing their children into either the main playground or the quieter Early Years play space.

The scheme minimises its impact on the site whilst maximising the possibilities for creative outdoor play and stimulating teaching areas.
