Boswyns Drug Detox Centre, Cornwall, is a competition winning project won by our Truro Studio. Stride Treglown's Access Consultancy and Interior Designers were approached so as to come up with a colour strategy conducive to the work of the drug detox facility.

Key to the strategy was to understand the challenging state of mind that would be experienced by Boswyn's visiting residents, some of whom will have experienced episodes of mental illness in addition to the immediate effect of taking drugs and becoming addicted.

The client was keen to avoid green as a colour as this was seen by many residents as a signature of psychiatric hospitals. However, it was considered important to achieve a calm environment but not so calm as to reinforce the potential moribund state of mind induced by drugs with correspondingly suppressive repercussions.
