Stride Treglown was asked to undertake access audits of primary, secondary and special schools within the Torbay area, by Torbay Council. In addition to access audits we also undertook suitability surveys and security surveys.
Our access auditing team were able to provide Torbay Council means of analysing their portfolio by establishing the basis for producing written and photographic access reports; attributing potential costs to itemized schedules through in-house Quantity Surveying expertise; utilising a colour coding system to identify the degree of challenge identified by each stage of the access sequence to each of their school grounds and premises and attributing numerical values to the colour coding.
Torbay Council were then able to produce an executive presentation of our findings by establishing a single summary that captured the relative severity of the issues through colour coding; ranking their properties by the relative severity of access issues and capturing additional information such anticipated costs.
This enabled them to establish the relative costs posed by the issues and to identify the priorities for each school. It also provided Torbay Council means of identifying strategies that they might employ as part of their statutory planning duties under SENDA legislation.
