On the university's Frenchay campus there are over 40 buildings, a few of which are listed Victorian farm buildings. The majority of buildings are the 1970's purpose designed higher education buildings, which have been supplemented with later additions over the subsequent decades culminating in early 2000's buildings including residential accommodation and a sports hall. The portfolio also includes several speculative office buildings, built in the late 1990's, which are located on an immediately adjoining site and the recently acquired ex Hewlett Packard 1980's computer facility buildings.
Stride Treglown were appointed initially to provide master planning advice to the university, but as part of that commission Stride Treglown's building surveyors were asked to review the general condition of the university's various buildings on the Frenchay Campus and advise regarding the general condition and any constraints affecting possible refurbishment and/or alteration. The information generated was used to inform the masterplanning process and provide a 'high level' report to the university's governing body.
