The Granary is a famous Victorian warehouse building located in Queens Square, Bristol. It is listed grade II because the external envelope, including the splendid decorative brickwork and slated roofs, are intact.
The scheme, by others, to convert the building into apartments, to sustain the building for the future, required Stride Treglown's specialist conservation input. Our task was to investigate the condition of the timber joists and massive beams built into the solid external walls.
The investigation was carried out by visual examination, partial invasive investigation and microbore drilling. The examination revealed little timber decay and little need for remedial action or repair.
