The properties on Cowbridge High Street are typical Victorian two and three storey terraced shops and houses. Our appointing owner's property had a two storey rear extension built approximately 10 years prior and was now to be further extended, such extension being against the party wall on both side boundaries.

Stride Treglown were appointed to provide preliminary advice to the client and her architect and then to deal with the formalities of the Party Wall Etc 1996 Act. As part of the preparation schedules of condition of the adjoining properties were taken so that there was a pre-agreed record of the condition of the buildings adjacent to the proposed development before work started.

This commission was unusual in that we were able to reassure the adjoining owners to the extent that one 'consented' to the work and the others agreed to us being appointed as 'Agreed Surveyor' thus saving our client the expense of adjoining owners surveyors fees.
