Barclay's main accommodation is located at first floor level in a 1970's/80's concrete framed building which has subsequently received a contemporary glass facade. As part of the branch refurbishment Barclays needed to insert a new lift, hoist and stairs all adjacent to both party walls.
Stride Treglown were appointed initially to advise on the application of The Party Wall Etc Act 1996 to the proposed alterations and refurbishment of the Tottenham Court Road branch of the bank and to, subsequently, serve notice on the 'Adjoining Owners'.
As 'Building Owner's Surveyor' we concluded matters with the appropriate Party Wall Awards, which included schedules of condition of the adjoining properties.
This commission involved the service of 'Party Structure Notices' on several national retailers. By careful discussion with the designers we were, however, able to 'design out' the need to serve 'Notices of Adjacent Excavation'.
