Stride Treglown were appointed initially to provide a 'high level' survey of the condition of the buildings on the London Road Campus. We were subsequently employed to carry out full surveys and also teamed with Stride Architecture to refurbish a significant proportion of the original university buildings.
On the campus there are some 40 buildings several of which, mostly on the London Road itself, are listed. A large number of the other buildings comprise buildings which form part of the purpose built university campus constructed in the early 20th century. Although not listed in their own right they are located within the Kendrick Road Conservation Area and are designated of being of 'townscape merit'.
Although the purpose built buildings are clearly a family of Berkshire red brick built buildings there are a range other buildings of different architectural styles and periods including the Victorian terraces facing London Road, a Victorian stone faced villa and, of course, the clock tower, which is a war memorial commemorating those who died in the first world war.
