As part of the regeneration of the former steelworks site in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, the General Offices forms something of a centrepiece. A dramatic new extension provides the home to the Gwent Records Office, while the existing building houses, amongst other tenants, the Steelworks Archive Trust and a new visitor experience that enables visitors to trace their family history whilst learning about the valley’s industrial past and the part that their relatives might have played.

Stride Treglown Interiors worked with the Interpretive Planner and Multimedia technology experts to create a memorable experience that honours those who helped build the steelworks, whilst entertaining and informing visitors about much more than just the way steel is made.

The building is a listed building of great quality, and our scheme highlights the best parts of its architecture and interiors, and also creates some new spaces that enthral and delight.
