Stride Treglown’s Landscape team, commissioned by the University's estates department, completed a Landscape Strategy for the Singleton Campus in 2010. The initial study work was embraced by the Facilities team and was used as an essential tool to prioritise funding. Following the study Stride Treglown Landscape worked directly with the Facilities Management team to roll out a development opportunity for landscape enhancement and new public realm.
The landscape strategy was based around the development of detail designs and critical analysis of how the space is used. This informed the materials selection, furniture provision, legibility and accessibility of the site. A fundamental design element to the scheme was the implementation of a landscape which responded to the historic setting and listed buildings of the University whilst providing robust solutions suitable for the demanding use of a campus.
