A new build 1250 pupil Pathfinder BSF Secondary School constructed on part of the existing college site. We were appointed as Project Manager in January 2006 to deliver this exciting new project for Torbay Council.

The College wanted to evaluate their education delivery, which involved a number of workshops with an Educationist to come up with a new Curriculum model and Schedule of Accommodation. This enabled the Design Process to commence in late 2006. This involved a structured consultation with all the stakeholders, staff, pupils and parents.

A formal DQI process was used to inform the design and client priorities for the project.

The project aims to obtain a high BREEAM rating through careful consideration of the design of the building and a number of other wider deliverables.

The project includes extensive remodelling of the external areas of the College which include formal and informal landscaping, external dining areas, a full size 3rd generation rubber crumb all weather football pitch including floodlighting and fenced enclosure and the remodelling of the grass sports pitches.

The project was carried out on a live school site, where pupils and staff needed to be segregated from the construction team. Works to the existing buildings was phased to ensure minimum disruption to term working, by utilising out of hours and holiday periods.
