Stride Treglown completed a major masterplanning commission for the University of the West of England in November 2009 following their acquisition of circa 70 acres of land adjacent to their historic Frenchay Campus 12 months previously.

Appointed in February 2009 as the lead masterplanning consultant, Stride Treglown worked closely with a multi-disciplinary sub-consultant team and advisors appointed directly by the University to undertake a comprehensive Initial Site Analysis Report by the April deadline.

The site analysis phase informed the preparation of a number of strategic options, presented to the Board of Governors in July 2009. The team developed the preferred strategy over the summer, informed by an ongoing series of University and public consultation sessions, workshops and exhibitions.

The Masterplan provides a robust land use framework that will see the full integration of the two historic sites into a single Campus. A new internal access and movement strategy underpins the way in which the Campus will work, and includes an elevated walkway through the historic core of buildings, facilitated by strategic demolitions.
