Stride Treglown was appointed to offer planning and technical support to Weymouth and
Portland National Sailing Academy to enable the parking of caravans and campervans on
their Osprey Quay site in Portland Harbour for use by event competitors and their support
teams.

The proposals were assessed against national and local planning policy and in-depth against the requirements of Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS25) Development and Flood Risk. Wide-area and site-specific sequential and exception tests were also undertaken.

Consultation with the Environment Agency and Local Authority was undertaken, to establish whether temporary or permanent permission would be appropriate. Planning applications were then submitted and permission was granted in December 2009.

On behalf of Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, Stride Treglown have subsequently obtained advertisement consent for over 90 separate advertisements and previously co-coordinated detailed planning submissions for the original Academy
buildings, mass-launch facilities and for the positioning of temporary storage facilities on the Osprey Quay site.
