Stride Treglown worked closely with The Homes Partnership to design studio layouts, bathroom pods and extensive common areas facilities, setting this development apart from others in the area.

Working with the Interior Design team in our Bristol office, we were able to produce both hand drawn and CGI visualisation of the key areas to allow the client to visualise the finished article. The games area, quiet study rooms, reading area, cinema , gym and main TV lounge are all vibrant and welcoming with designs informed by the trends in the hotel sector.

Pre-application discussions with Bristol City Council advocated our approach in adopting a respectful response to the elevation of the building facing onto King Square whilst a more contemporary use of the same materials are used elsewhere.

Massing and elevation studies were produced, demonstrating to Bristol City Council that an additional floors worth of accommodation could be provided whilst not being detrimental to the surrounding area. This provided an additional 38 studios. Using an existing building presents a series of design and construction challenges. Integrating the studio layouts with the existing structure has meant that no two studios are identical, which provides a unique user experience in each.
