Stride Treglown designed the internal alteration of a vacant nine storey plus basement within a 1930s office building whilst introducing a new centralised ventilation system.
The building was purchased with planning permission for student use but our client UNITE, required extensive changes in order to justify the scheme. Extensive negotiation with the local authority and eventually a new planning permission was required in order to secure the changes.
Working closely with the contractor and consultant team the project was delivered in 52 weeks. A number of innovative bespoke layouts and design solutions were developed - including shared rooms and captain’s beds in order to optimise the use of space in this high profile building.
