The scheme moves away from the standard model of providing a single option of a 5 bed cluster to providing a range of accommodation types. We have 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 bed clusters, a number of penthouse apartments and the option to open large parts of the scheme into a more traditional open halls arrangement.
More than half of the rooms are designed to allow them to be rearranged to meet tourism England standard, and provide conferencing accommodation outside of term times.
We have welcomed the University's sustainable aspirations for this project and have achieved BREEAM 'Excellent' at pre-assessment stage; the building includes LED lighting throughout, and highly efficient air source heat pumps instead of a traditional heating system. Construction commences on site in 2010 with completion in time for the summer student intake in 2011.
